Hi!
My name is Catalina Gallo and I am the face behind Poetética.
I grew up listening to my grandfather reciting poetry daily. Little by little I learned a few of his favourite poems and unavoidably fell in love with poetry myself.
My favourite class in school was art. I was fortunate enough to have teachers that encouraged my creativity and motivated me to explore my ideas. I especially remember when we started studying modern and contemporary art and I understood the symbols and poetical elements that sometimes constitute a work of art.
That’s how my two loves (art and literature) came together.
When I finally had to make a choice, the competition was tough, but I decided to study Visual Arts. I currently work as an independent artist and illustrator in my city Bogotá, Colombia.
Studying art didn’t mean I got distant from poetry nor literature, so I decided to combine my two loves and find a work guided by passion and with the intention of incorporating poetic elements not only in my work but in my life.
That’s how Poetética was born.
